Dental veneers - advantages and disadvantages

we present how the dental veneers look like

Different methods used for improving and embellishing the smile have been known in the world for many years, and what is more important their effectivness and safety is very mch confirmed.

Undoubtedly when talking to people, the lips are right in front of the eyes, therefore, the attention is paid directly to the teeth and smile. More and more often now people try to build the good image of the face where everything is in harmony, especially teeth which are the main focus.

Thanks to the veneers, we can get a beautiful smile in a very short time. Veneers are a real kind of aesthetic dentistry and they look like flakes that 'stick to' the teeth. They can be made only by the most talented dental technicians. The right materials are thoroughly chosen to ensure durability, color and gloss of the veneers.
The best, durable and most often used material is of course porcelain, which is a biocompatible material for oral tissues. It is biologically inert, locally and generally, it is not toxic and allergenic.

Veneers last for many years (5-12 years), if, of course, we take care of them properly. First of all, you must adhere to the principles of oral hygiene and avoid hard foods.

Advantages of veneers:
Veneers are primarily an attractive alternative to dental crowns because of:

  • a small range of preparation of tooth (for dental crowns the tooth is ground more),
  • exceptional integrity,
  • high abrasion resistance,
  • very good aesthetic effect,
  • compatibility with periodontal tissues,
  • significant improvement in the patients' well-being after the treatment.

Veneer defects:
  • difficulty in matching and cementing the veneer (the addition before cementing is very delicate and its mechanical strength is small, it is easy to damage at the stage of matching finished veneers),
  • the use and placement requires experience from a doctor,
  • difficulty in choosing a color (the dentist must take into account both the color of the ground tooth and the bonding cement),
  • no possibility of repair,
  • financial considerations.

The cost of a porcelain veneer is 220 GBP, but for more info and prices please see HERE.
