I'm missing a tooth, what can I do?

Loss of even 'only' 1 tooth carries some serious consequences, and not only the aesthetic ones.
After removing or losing a tooth for other reasons, a hole remains in our mouth... Such a gap in the teeth causes the inclination and gradual shifting of the remaining teeth towards the lack, their loosening, impaired function of chewing, excessive load on other teeth (on those that try to 'tak over' the function of the lost missing tooth). Lack of a tooth also causes bone atrophy, as well as the atrophy of soft tissues around the 'gap' left after the tooth has been lost..

So how to proceed in a situation of losing a tooth? What are the possibilities and how much does it cost?

There are three most common ways to rebuild a missing tooth:

Such restoration is possible only when the tooth root remains, which is not damaged and is not too short.
Crown-root insert is used to strengthen the root of the tooth; it can be made of metal alloys, glass fiber or zirconium oxide. Of course, the first stage of such treatment is root canal treatment.
Insertion gives us the opportunity to rebuild a lost tooth with a porcelain crown.
The cost of this treatment starts from about 330 GBP.

Tooth reconstruction using an implant and a crown is the longest process, but also probably the most durable and the best solution.
The treatment consists in implanting the implant in the place of the missing tooth (we would like to remind you that the implant replaces the root of the tooth).
After the implant surgery, the period of minimum of 3 months must be waited until the implant fully integrates with the bone (mostly for this period the patient receives a temporary solution, this type is selected individually). When the implant is 'ready' to be loaded, a porcelain crown can be attached to
This form of reconstruction is the best because we prevent the loss of bone tissue and soft tissues by implanting the implant. In such case there is no need to disturb adjacent teeth (as in the case of the next solution).
The cost of 1 implant with a crown is about 930 1150 GBP.

To rebuild one tooth using a porcelain bridge, you must 'use' adjacent teeth that must be ground and used as pillars under the bridge. Thus, the reconstruction of one tooth using a porcelain bridge requires a 3-point bridge supported on neighboring teeth.
The cost of making a 3-point porcelain bridge starts from about 400 GBP (depends on the type of bridge, if this is to be made on a metal foundation, on a zirconium or full-ceramic foundation).

More information on porcelain bridges can be found HERE.
