Abdomen and hip liposuction

we present different areas that liposuction can be performed on

The procedure was first performed in Italy in 1974 by the doctor Giorgio Fisher. In 1977, a french doctor did perform this procedure for the first time as a solution to aesthetic problems.

Patients who decide to undergo this surgery aim for removal of excess fat in particular parts of their bodies (f.e. stomach, hips, legs, chin, neck etc.). Is it important to underline that patients undergoing liposuction should not choose if their main goal is losing fat.

A superior goal of liposuction is not weight loss, but putting a proper harmony between every part of the body.

Liposuction - before the surgery:
It is necessary to carry out all the essential tests required by the surgeon at the first visit. All the test will be carried out on site. It is also important to inform the doctor about any medical problems or medications which are regularly taken. Furthermore, we advise against to smoke before and after the surgery and alcohol intake should be minimised.

Liposuction - surgery:
Liposuction is performed under general anesthesia by intubating the patient. This decision, however, will be made at the initial medical consultation with the anesthesiologist.
The surgery lasts usually from 1 to 2,5 hours, but everything depends on the body surface that needs to be operated, as well as on the amount of fat that needs to be removed. Usually the amount of removed fat cannot exceed 3 to 5% of patient's body weight.

Liposuction - after the surgery:
Patient usually stays in the clinic from 24 - 48hrs after the surgery, but it depends on the type of liposuction that the patient underwent. There is a planned visit on the next day to assess patient's health condition and to decide about potential hospital discharge.
Liposuction surgery in most cases causes no bigger pain afflictions. If they do occur, however, they are effectively minimised by the painkillers prescribed to the patient by the doctor. Follow up control appointments will be scheduled within next days, during which the doctor checks patient's recuperation process.
The sutures used for the procedure are either absorbable or classic but the choice is dependant on the length of the patient's stay.
In most cases, right after the operation patient is required to wear special compression garment, which will need to be worn for the expected period of time.

Liposuction - Questions and doubts:
No surgeon can guarantee that the patient will be 100% happy and satisfied with the results of the surgery. Every specialist's work is based on his own experience and professionalism, but the effects of the surgery can sometimes not go together with the expectations.
Every surgery needs to be certified, meaning confirmed that it had been performed with all rules and regulations, but the satisfaction can depend on other factors, not necessarily related to medical aspects.
This must be said in order to indicate pros and cons before the surgery.
