Abdomen and hip liposuction

we present different areas that liposuction can be performed on

Tummy tuck with liposuction

Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is a procedure that has become very popular among both women and men, regardless of their age. This operation consists of removing the excess of the abdominal fat fold and restoring weak or separated muscles to a smooth and strong appearance. As a result of abdominal surgery, the stretch marks on the abdomen are also largely removed. It is also aimed at removing excess sagging skin and subcutaneous tissue. Thanks to this, the flattening effect and proper abdominal tension are achieved. Very often this procedure should be accompanied by liposuction (especially in the region of the abdomen and 'love handles') or the provision of abdominal hernia.

The course of the procedure

The treatment consists of suctioning the fat and remodeling the area. This takes place in two stages. The first one consists in injecting adipose tissue with an anesthetic solution, the next one is elimination (suction) of excess fat cells. During one operation you can safely remove 3.5 - 4.5 liters of fat. Tummy tuck surgery involves surgical cutting located around the navel and the abdomen. Abdominal coatings are detached all the way to the lower ribs, the muscles are approaching, and a new place is created for the navel. In some cases there is a need for correction of the abdominal muslces (i.e. white hernia) . This additional procedure aims at restoring the continuity of the connection between the abdominal muscles. Stretching this structure occurs most often because of pregnancy or abdominal surgery. This procedure consists in the preparation of the suprapathogenic layer, up to the ribs and then the permanent approximation of the edges of the rectus abdominal muscle. This treatment is usually preceded by liposuction aimed at obtaining even better final effect and improving the healing conditions.

Postoperative course

Right after the operation a dressing is placed on the wounds, elastic pressure is applied to the whole abdomen, thanks to which the swelling decreases and the skin becomes easier to shrink. The feelings of painfulness, weakness, easy fatigue, and sensory disorder, which returns gradually over several months are probable to occue after tummy tuck procedure. The patient must stay in bed duirng one day after the procedure and then gradual pionisation of the patient happens. The return to normal life usually is after around 14 days, however it depends on the patient.

Possible complications

Complications and poor results after treatments are extremely rare, but sometimes they can occur. The most common are: hematoma, infection and marginal skin necrosis. These complications can cause prolonged healing, oozing wounds and unsightly scars. The most serious complications are pulmonary embolism and fat embolism, which are life-threatening. Complications can be prevented by using appropriate medications and treatments, which is why it is highly important to follow the doctor's instructions.

The procedure is performed depending on location (usually general anesthesia) and the decision is made during medical consultation.

The conditions of the procedure

The necessary condition for the procedure is good overall health and normal results of basic laboratory tests. Absolute contraindications to the procedure are: unstable arterial hypertension, vascular defects and coagulation disorders, history of dyspnoea, inflammation of the veins of the lower limbs, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, purulent infection of the skin. Before the surgery it is necessary to prepare: a light diet, emptying the previous day, and in women it is important that the procedure takes place after menstruation.
