'Tummy tuck' - More Info

we present how surgeon prepares abdomen for tummy tuck procedure

Abdominoplasty is about modeling an abdomen by execution of the right amount of lifting - a removal of adipose tissue.
Plastic surgery is very often combined with performing a small liposuction.

As a result of this procedure, the surgeon aims at achieving the most possible flat abdomen.

The amount of the procedures performed within last few years, shows that the results are more and more satisfying and more and more patients decide to undergo abdominoplasty.

Who do we recommend abdominoplasty to.

The ideal patient is a person, whose skin in the lower parts, is very dangling.
It is caused mainly by too fast and severe weight loss, or previous pregnancies.
Most common patients that come to us for help are people after 40's in whom body imperfections are visible.

The surgeons, with the purpose of rejuvenating and improving the appearance, suck off the fat tissue from particular body parts, consequently eliminating the excess of flagging skin caused by previous liposuction.

Why should I decide on undergoing the abdominoplasty?

One answer does not exist, purely because it is a surgery and we need to treat it like that. If the patient is determined to decrease the volume of the abdomen or to eliminate it completely, he has to carefully consider all the available methods, mainly those non-surgical ones.

In order to see the final effects of the plastic surgery, the patient needs to arm himself in patience, due to the fact that the final result might be visible only after a couple of months. It does not mean, however, that the patient needs to stay passive during the recuperation process.
During the first week from the abdominoplasty a physical activity is not recommended at all.
All other information will be provided during medical consultation.

What type of anesthesia is often used in the abdominoplasty surgery?

Abdominoplasty surgery is performed under general anesthesia by intubating the patient. It is quite a long surgery, therefore this kind of anesthesia is chosen.
There is 48-hour hospitalisation after abdominoplasty, especially if it is combined with liposuction. Hospitalisation time depends on the type and size of the procedure.

Techniques of abdominoplasty.

We present you the styles of performing the procedure, carefully analyzing types and methods of incisions, as well as techniques used by surgeons in abdominoplasty surgeries. We will explain therefore how and where the incision will be placed.

The most common and most often performed incision in abdominoplasty is a classic way of leading the incision called 'the wings of seagulls'. The incision is from right to left side, which in reality gives the shape similar to the wings of seagull, because the incision in the center is placed on higher level than on the sides.
Sometimes in some more complicated cases an additional perpendicular incision is added, which leads to the navel and around it (procedure with navel displacement).

As we mentioned before the abdominoplasty is very often combined with liposuction. In this case, the first performed procedure is aspiration of unnecessary fat, followed by the elimination of skin excess, which improves the appearance of the abdomen.

Which surgeon to choose?

Having been working in this environment for years we do cooperate with the best surgeons in Poland. Based on our many years of experience we can reduce the costs of the treatments so that they have become available to everyone. Surgeons, despite of low costs of treatments will not decrease the cost of service offered, on the contrary.

Very often people mistakenly think that, by decreasing the cost of the treatment, the quality of the service becomes decreased as well. However, that is only and only a rumour which are being spread, but the truth is far away from it. An experienced and seriously treated surgeon, wanting to maintain his high position in the industry cannot afford to go below a certain level, purely because it might cause the loss of trust among patients and in the future badly influence his career. Therefore, for the abdominoplasty we do offer surgeons with international experience, who have been performing similar plastic surgeries for many years, not only in the home country but also abroad.

Characteristic of mini abdominoplasty.

Why mini abdominoplasty?

Because this type of treatment does not provide, same as the majority of classic abdominoplasty surgeries:

  • Navel displacement,
  • Interference in muscle parts of the body.
Mini abdominoplasty provides:
  • More compact and smaller incisions,
  • Faster recuperation process.
Unfortunately, mini abdominoplasty cannot be offered to all patients. A perfect candidate is a patient in whom we can observe a syndrome of loose skin only in the lower part of the abdomen. The most often and most classic example is a woman after a labour, after which the skin has never returned to its initial look. Another example could be a patient at an advanced age, in whom we can observe a limited skin elasticity. An optimal solution can be then removing a small part of the skin by performing mini abdominoplasty.

If the patient does not require any complicated plastic surgery, the surgeon then, in view of lower costs of treatment, usually offers mini abdominoplasty. In all other cases a classic abdominoplasty is carried out.

Associated symptoms.

As we know every case is individual due to the differences in many aspects. We will discuss one of the most often chosen and most prefered esthetic procedure in Poland.

Where do these all symptoms come from?

Basic concern comes from the fear of insufficient and inadequate scars healing, which in consequence might cause creating another problem.
These concerns do not come from nothing, therefore we would like to highlight that:
  • New techniques provide significant differences to the previous ones,
  • There are many ways (f.e. Silicone creams) of more effective scars healing,
  • The surgeon will not offer a surgery, where it can cause any esthetic problem
We also need to point out the the healing process is much longer comparing other plastic surgeries, and the final result requires even up to 1 year of waiting (in case of faster scars healing process).

After an abdominoplasty small scars can remain sometimes, which can be easily removed after a specified amount of time. This procedure is carried out in local anesthesia (without the need of repeating the procedure) correcting these rare, but do occuring complications. These complications can occur in patients, whom the scars healing process were not running as it should have been.

All other concerns have a medical base, where the fear of not waking up after the surgery becomes the main cause. In our opinion, the most important thing is making a patient aware, that he/she is in good and safe hands of the surgeon who is competent, educated and well experienced. Usually this fear decreases after initial medical consultation.

Potential complications.

Due to the safety of our patients we have decided to delve into this topic as well, because there are few complications closely related to each other.
All the potential risks of any complications will be presented by the plastic surgeon during the initial medical consultation, based on patient's health condition. For example, a patient who suffers from anaemia will be more susceptible to different types of infections than a patient who is in perfect health condition. It does not mean, however, that curing any disease will not allow us performing abdominoplasty, but we just want to highlight that the risk of complications is much higher in this case.
Obviously in case of any more serious disease, the patient will not be qualified to the surgery.

Basic postoperative possible complications:

  • Leaking serous liquid,
  • Abnormal scars healing process,
  • Asymmetries,
  • Infections and a longer healing process.
There are basic complications presented above, however, more specific information will be provided during medical consultation with the plastic surgeon.
We would like to add that the majority of the aforementioned problems are immediately successfully corrected.

Even the best surgeon is not able to guarantee 100% satisfaction out of the treatment.
It is essential that the patient is aware of positive sides of the procedure, as well as of possible complications. In our opinion, a better awareness of the risks may only positively influence the result of the procedure. The most important thing is to thoroughly control patient's health condition after the surgery, even after a longer period of time.

The costs.

The majority of our clients are attracted to us by the good price of the plastic surgeries, who found out about us on websites, medical forums and portals.

The classic cost of abdominoplasty is dependant on the type and the size of performed surgery. The cheaper option will definitely be mini abdominoplasty due to its smaller nature.

We do realise that, nowadays covering all the costs of procedure might be very hard. Many of us struggle with financial problems, therefore by offering lower prices and without giving up the high quality at the same time, we do exactly know how to adjust our offer to the needs of every patient.

All inclusive price includes:
  • Medical consultation with the specialist,
  • Abdominoplasty surgery,
  • Operating theater and 48 hour hospitalisation (depending on the size of the surgery),
  • Anesthesiologist,
  • Follow up visits,
  • Accomodation in a hotel,
  • Translator and full documentation in English.
In order to receive more specific costs of the procedure, please do contact one of our consultants. On a special request we do send some example pictures before and after the abdominoplasty procedure.
We will be more than happy to provide you with all the details you need.
