Prosthetic camouflage
At the beginning an important information: prosthetic camouflage does not replace orthodontic treatment, which in most cases, is the only good way to improve the appearance of teeth and eliminate malocclusion.

Prosthetic camouflage is a solution that can be chosen in some special cases.

What methods can be used? How long does it take and how much does it cost? Please see the answers below:

Camouflage, which means 'masking', just for a reminder, is not a way to cure the malocclusion or 'tooth displacement', it is only to mask the problem, visually improve the appearance of teeth, but not for correction, for example, malocclusion.

Let's start with 'more sensitive problems'.

Camouflage can be used for discolored, dark, broken, chipped teeth with unsightly fillings.

To such 'defects' you can use Dental veneers or Porcelain crowns/bridges.

Veneers are thin porcelain flakes 'glued' to the tooth. They usually require minimal grinding of the tooth, so that its surface is even and the tooth after cementing the veneer will not turn out to be thicker than before.

The cost of one veneer is about 220 GBP/ 245 EUR.

Porcelain crowns are such 'hats' that are put on the previously polished teeth (here the tooth must be polished every side). A porcelain crown is then put on - permanently cemented.

The cost of 1 porcelain crowns is about 150 GBP/ 170 EUR.

Porcelain bridge is a combination of several crowns into one whole, exactly as with single crowns, which are put on teeth (permanently cemented). They must be polished beforehand.

The cost of the bridge depends on the number of points (1 point = approx. 150 GBP)

Depending on the size of the 'gap' discussed, porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns/ bridges can be used to eliminate it, however, sometimes the orthodontic solution cannot be avoided.

Curves or uneven teeth

Such situations can also sometimes be "camouflaged". Most often (of course, not counting the orthodontic treatment) such teeth are polished, in this way they are prepared for porcelain crowns or bridges, and after a few days (about 7 days) the treatment can be finished (permanently cemented) with porcelain bridges or single crowns (here, unfortunately, if the teeth are very crooked it is not always possible to achieve the perfect effect).

Lacks in the teeth

Missing individual teeth can be supplemented in two ways:

  • by making a missing tooth (imlant) at the site and a porcelain crown on it,

  • or using neighboring teeth - making a porcelain bridge (in the absence of one tooth, the bridge must consist of 3 points, because it must include teeth adjacent to the missing).

  • Treatment time: in the cases mentioned above, veneers, porcelain crowns or porcelain bridges, the time needed to do this work (regardless of whether it is a crown or a 12 point bridge), it is a minimum of 7 days - it is the time needed by the prosthetist to prepare the work.

Of course, if the patient has a lot of teeth for treatment (WE WOULD LIKE TO REMIND THAT THE TEETH ON WHICH VENEERS, CROWNS OR PORCELAIN BRIDGES ARE CEMENTED MUST BE TREATED AT FIRST) then the time may be longer due to the need to treat the teeth in the first place.
