Rhinoplasty 'closed' technique

We might say that the nose, as the central point of our face, is the element that draws attention probably the most when we look at another human being.
People who are not satisfied with the appearance, shape or size of their nose may opt for surgical change of its appearance - Rhinoplasty, or 'nose job'.
Rhinoplasty can also be carried out to improve the function of breathing and it is called septoplasty.

There are 2 techniques used for the surgical correction of the nose: open and closed technique.

Closed technique is the one chosen by patients more often due to the fact that it is a less invasive method, leaving no visible scars (cuts are made inside the nasal vestibule) and what is more important the convalescence process after the procedure is faster. However, it should be mentioned that the access to the operated areas using closed techniques may in some cases be insufficient (this method can not be used for all patients).
The closed technique is rarely used in the cases of repeated correction of the nose, most often (in 95% of cases) the open method is used then.

The closed technique is always considered the first when planning treatments. However, if it turns out that the choice of this method will not give the surgeon a sufficiently good field of view you need to consider the open technique.

Nowadays most of the experienced surgeons are able to perform nose surgery with an open technique in such way that scars created after the procedure will be as little visible as possible (the open technique involves an incision on the outer side of the nose in the so-called nasal column).

Of course, we cannot indicate here which technique is better and which one is worse, the choice of which one will be more suitable for you will be discussed with the surgeon.
